"Environmental challenge accepted" meeting in Sigulda, Latvia

YEE attended the third meeting of the project “Environmental Challenge Accepted”, which took place on 27-29 October 2017 in Sigulda, Latvia. The meeting was organised and hosted by BALTA DABA, the coordinating organisation of the project.

On the first day of the meeting each partner organisation presented the outcomes of the environmental actions they organised. The actions included: restoring freshwater pearl mussel habitat (Estonia); creation of nests for birds and reconstruction of bird houses (Latvia); reforestation actions and phytoremediation of the water system (Portugal); water monitoring actions and controlling invasive plant species (Lithuania).

YEE presented the results of the international competition “Environmental Challenge Accepted” and the webpage of the project available on YEE website.

On the second day we planned and created together the intellectual output of the project, in the form of a video. In the afternoon we had a team-building activity visiting the area of the Turaida medieval castle, on the banks of the Gauja River. We closed the day with an evaluation session in which each partner shared their impressions on the project.

On the last day in the morning we had a walk in the nature and enjoyed the beautiful surroundings of Sigulda.

The project was developed by YEE member organisation BALTA DABA together with the Estonian Fund for Nature, OPE, YEE, and the Lithuanian Fund for Nature, in order to promote direct youth involvement in solving local environmental problems. You can find all information about the project here.
