On December 10th and 11th several ecoclubistas participated in a reforestation in the the reserve Faia Brava, organised by FAPAS. The reserve has about 850 hectares exclusively for nature conservation, with actions that focus on ecological restoration, through giving value to habitats, increasing food availability for the most endangered species and forest management.
It is located in the Vale do Côa, with a south-north orientation, with slopes of great slope where steep granitic rocks appear, ideal for the nesting of rupicolous birds. We planted 200 holm oaks! After describing the terrain, it is possible to realise that the task of the group was not easy. However, we were able to find a space for each tree. We protected them even with 'trobisco', which is a plant toxic to the animals. We hope that in few years, the Vale do Côa will be even more beautiful with our contribution.
On December 17th, several ecoclubistas joined the reforestation project at Quinta do Corgo, in Macieira da Maia, an action promoted by the Futuro project - 100 thousand trees in the Porto metropolitan area. There were planted 1400 ash trees that will give new life to that area.
