"The Consequences of Global Climate Change" discussion

“Active Young Citizens Initiative“ NGO has launched a series of meetings focused on the discussion of environmental issues with the support of the Youth Council adjacent to Yerevan Mayor.

On October 19, the young people and the experts of the sphere concerned with the environmental issues gathered for the discussion of one of the important issues: "The Consequences of Global Climate Change".

At the beginning of the meeting was demonstrated National geographic’s short film about the global climate change, where  the effects of climate change were illustrated and substantiated. Then the speakers Hovik Sayadyan (professor at the department of hydrometeorology of YSU physical geography) and Nerses Samvelyan (candidate of geographical sciences, associate professor at the department of geography and its teaching methods) spoke about the danger of so-called "global change", about its natural factors and serious role of human activity and about its possible severe consequences. Then,  interesting questions and answers took place; the attendees addressed issues of concern to the speakers.

H. Melkonyan, the representative of the "Service of active effect on the hydrometeorology and atmospheric phenomena" was also present at the meeting and spoke about the theme of "Climate change observations and interpretations in Armenia and Artsakh".

Tree planting and cleaning actions

In October and November, in the scope of RA Government “Clean Armenia” program “Active Young Citizens Initiative “, NGO members were actively involved in tree planting and cleaning actions.
