The Council of Europe's training courses are known from their good quality. In March 2011 the Council of Europe organized the Training Course for Facilitators (Involved in non-formal education with young people) in the European Youth Center Budapest. As YEE Main Coordinator I decided to participate in this project because I want to develop skills that I need in my work for YEE and I expected to bring many important information about one of our main partners, the Council of Europe.
Let me share with you some information and my impressions on recently attended event of the European Youth Forum, also known as Youth Forum Jeunesse (YFJ). This year's Earth Day theme was Billion Acts of Green®. The purpose of it was to mobilize one billion acts of environmental service around the world. In collaboration with American Embassy and Tirana Municipality, EDEN center (YEE member organisation) organized (like every year) two events on the occasion of this celebration which is the world's largest-ever environmental service movement. This was the 7th consecutive year that Earth Day was celebrated in Tirana and this year also for the first time in Divjaka-Karavasta National Park.
European project called ‘Schools for Intelligent Energy Use' (SIEU) is just finishing in Belgium, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, France, the Netherlands, Romania, Spain, UK, and Hungary. More than 100 schools from all these countries were involved in the project. The ‘storyline approach' methodology, upon the successful Dutch "Schools for Sustainability" (SfS) programme and also relevant programmes in partner countries, was applied in all schools offering to the students the opportunity to work on real assignments, for real clients, in the field of sustainable energy.
YEE is hosting EVS volunteers since 2001 so many European volunteers had a chance to spend one year in YEE office and learn many new useful skills. The Czech National Agency of the Youth in Action Programme appreciated our EVS project and nominated it for the European Youth Award 2011. That is why we (Adriana and Gosia) were invited for the European Youth Week.
