#BiodiversityDay – Join the Biggest Biodiversity Campaign for 2020
YEE is really happy to be partners with GYBN (Global Youth Biodiversity Network) in order to celebrate and learn in this Biodiversity Week that is happening online on 18-22 May 2020.
We will be taking part promoting and sharing online events and information as well as screening some events like – the Q&A / China & Biodiversity, meaning we will share it “live” on our FB page so we can reach more people!
Biodiversity Week 2020
The International Day for Biological Diversity (IDB) takes place every year on May 22. It is the United Nations-sanctioned international day for promoting awareness around biodiversity issues.
This year, IDB offers an opportunity for us as a global community to re-examine our relationship to the natural world, reflect on challenges and accomplishments, and renew our determination in overcoming the environmental challenges facing the world today.
The year 2020 is a pivotal year in environmental governance as we close out the UN Decade on Biodiversity 2011-2020. Thus for this year, the Convention on Biological Diversity has planned a week of celebrations concluding with IBD on May 22nd.
Why should we work together for Biodiversity Week?
As a community that is working together to halt the loss of biodiversity, this can be an instrumental week for us to work together at all levels to show the world the importance of building a future where we are living in harmony with nature.
In the lead up to the 15th meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (COP15), IDB 2020 can also provide an opportunity to continue to build momentum toward the adoption of a strong and impactful Post-2020 Global Biodiversity Framework.
Will you join this global biodiversity movement as we build toward the next half-century of action for our planet?
