Call for YEE Secretary General

Youth and Environment Europe (YEE) is looking for a young motivated person for a full time position of Secretary General. Key responsibilities include mainly administration, fundraising, managing the team, the development and coordination of youth projects.

YEE is a European network of 43 European youth non-governmental environmental organisations in 26 countries. YEE works in the field of environmental protection and education. Our activities (youth exchanges, trainings, campaigns, study sessions, publications, networking projects) are always made by and for young people. All people volunteering and working in YEE are under 30 years old.

We offer full-time work in a young international team, coordination and participation in youth projects, flexibility in working schedule and traveling abroad.

Starting date of the job would be beginning or middle of May, depending on the availability of the candidate with transfer period with the leaving Secretary General.

Responsibilities:

Management and Coordination

– Managing an international team of 3 people (1 full-time employee, 3 volunteers – European Solidarity Corps)

– Coordinating projects approved in the annual work plan of the organisation

– Cooperation with the Executive Board and member organisations

– Coordinating office meetings, Board meetings, Annual meetings (in cooperation with the Board)

Fundraising
– Searching for grant opportunities

– Developing projects ideas, preparing application forms and applying for grants, financial management of projects, writing final reports

– Applying for administrative grants

– Supporting projects prepared by the member organisations (consultancy for their projects, proof-reading of the application forms)

Budgeting and accounting
– Preparing the annual budget (in cooperation with the Treasurer of the organisation)

– Preparing the bills and invoices for the accountant

– Reimbursing the costs of running the organisation and the activities (internet banking)

Legal representation of YEE
– Signing legal documents (such as grant contracts)

– Communication with the Ministry of Internal Affairs (e.g. regarding changes of statutes) and other legal bodies

Administration
– Administrative support of the activities of the organisation

– Administration of human resources (contracts, salaries and insurance of the employees)

– Day to day administration

What are we looking for in the candidate:

– Basic knowledge of accounting

– Experience in administration

– Experience in coordinating international projects

– Work experience in an NGO, preferably environmental one

– Time management and organisational skills

– Fluency in English, Fluency in Czech is an asset (Selected candidate would be required to learn Czech to at least Level A2)

– Experience in fundraising, writing grant applications

– Computer skills

– Ability to work under pressure

– Time flexibility

Other preferable skills:

– Orientation in basic legal issues concerning running an NGO

– Communication skills in an international environment

– Experience in working in the environmental field

– Experience in managing a team

– Willingness to undertake at least two years commitment in YEE’s international team
