This Training for Trainers will focus on environmental decision-making & local participation with a special focus on young people from rural areas, minorities and vulnerable groups. The program will be based on non-formal education and intercultural learning principles. We strive for active, inclusive and direct communication and transfer and sharing of knowledge. Sessions will be balanced between theoretical inputs, training, workshops, discussions, reflection, planning, brainstorming and other interactive methods of learning. We believe that the representation of diverse voices in the environmental youth movement is the key to good policy making. (Under)representation of young people from rural communities, minorities and vulnerable groups affects the design, implementation and effectiveness of policies. Facing the climate emergency, we want to make sure that those who feel its consequences the most have space in decision-making and know that their voice matters. With this project, we want to engage with young people locally, while empowering and connecting youth internationally.

Climate change is one of the most fundamental problems of humanity and international climate negotiations and lawsuits against governments and companies for their climate policies are taking place more frequently than ever. But are we able to follow them? As knowledge is power, our environmental law team is hosting a series of 4 workshops during June and July to empower young people to become more involved in the international and European climate regime and provide them with the knowledge needed and bring them in contact with experts working on the field. The workshops will cover topics of fundamental international environmental law, public participation & environmental impact assessment as well as different angles of climate litigation and its current developments. Certificates will be given to the participants who attend 75% of the workshops (minimum 3 out of 4). We aim to build capacity on the basic knowledge of international environmental law and include young people with no legal background in the climate movement. Through our 3rd workshop, we aim to provide a better understanding of public climate litigation having as guest speaker Filippo Fantozzi, Legal Associate in the Climate Litigation Network of Urgenda. Urgenda is one of the most widely discussed climate litigation cases against States. Through this workshop, participants will learn more about climate lawsuits against public actors from an expert, who is involved in one of the most influential cases of the climate litigation movement. The 3rd workshop is going to take place online on the 4th of July at 16.30. When?4th of July at 16.30 CET Where? Online, from your home via Zoom – the link will be communicated upon registration How? 1st and 2nd July 2022, Grenoble (or remote)
We would like to announce that the Annual Meeting and the General Assembly of YEE will take place on the 1-2nd of July 2022 In Grenoble, France, following the Greenoble Summit organized by YEE on the 28-30th of June. We are happy to say that it will take place IN PERSON with an option to join in remotely. Hereby, we would like to ask each YEE member organisation to appoint a delegate to represent and vote on behalf of your organisation during the General Assembly (GA).
In the framework of its green cities portfolio, YEE is organising the Youth Greenoble Summit from June 28th to June 30th in partnership with the City of Grenoble (France), European Green Capital 2022 and the French presidency of the Council of the European Union. Aiming at emphasising the importance of cities in environmental and social change and the need for more inclusive and intersectional local campaigns, our event will bring together 75 young people between 18 and 30 years old, coming from all over Europe and interested in advocating at the city level. Through a mixed format between a variety of workshops, conferences, experience sharing moments and informal activities in Grenoble, YEE wants: To provide participants with theoretical knowledge on how to design and implement green local policies through an intersectional approach and equip them with advocacy tools and skills to lead inclusive local campaigns To provide them with positive examples and inspire them to become environmental and climate youth activists and exchange knowledge To bring youth demands on building a more intersectional, just and green transition to the highest level of decision-making (including the European Commission and the French government) When? 28th June to 30th June 2022 Where? Join us at an interactive workshop about nature restoration followed by a relay run to the Czech Ministry of Environment. After the failure to meet the objectives of the EU Biodiversity Strategy for 2020, there is a need for urgent action to halt biodiversity loss and degradation of ecosystems. At the end of March 2022, the European Commission will present a draft of the new EU law to restore nature. With this event, we want to highlight that the nature restoration debate is about the interests of young people and future generations. The upcoming EU nature restoration law can be a game-changer – but only if done right! We will try to answer the following questions: We need 27 runners. Each runner takes on part of the route and hands an envelope with messages of young people collected during the workshop to the next runner. The envelope will be passed on to the Ministry of Environment – the final stop of the relay run. Why running? We need to make nature “fit” again to reverse biodiversity loss and avert the worst consequences of climate change – preserving the planet for the next generations. When? Saturday 19th March 2022, 10.00 to 13.00 CET Where? Online, from your home via Zoom – the link will be communicated upon registration How? Register your interest by 18th March [12 noon CET]. *This event will be an opening event of the Green Track campaign organised by the European Commission and the Global Biodiversity Youth Network (GYBN).Run4Nature | Workshop + Run | EU Nature Restoration Law
