Environmental Law Project Assistant | Part time
What are we working on
The Environmental Law Project Assistant will work closely with the Advocacy Project Coordinator and the Liaison Officer on Environmental Law on the YEE Legal Seeds 2 Project. Moreover, they will support the Advocacy Team on a weekly basis.
The Legal Seeds 2 Project builds on the Legal Seeds 1 and its objective is to empower young people to use the law in their political advocacy; through building a knowledge bank, organizing capacity-building workshops; and building a solid network with other youth and non-youth environmental NGOs.
The main topics covered are:
- FF55 and the EU Climate Laws;
- The Aarhus Convention;
- The Right to a Healthy Environment;
- Climate Litigation.
What the job will entail:
- Contributing to the knowledge bank, through e.g. writing legal articles;
- Supporting online, non-formal education workshops through e.g. contacting experts and organising the agenda;
- Attending external online meetings with youth and non-youth environmental NGOs active on the environmental law field with the aim to build strong, long-term partnerships;
- Attending external onsite events, conferences and meetings when relevant (to be discussed with the team on a case by case basis);
- Following the Aarhus Convention processes, with the aim of contributing in ensuring a solid position of YEE, and of youth more generally;
- Contributing to producing material on legal and policy updates for social media in collaboration with the Communication Team;
- Attending weekly internal meetings with the Secretariat and the Advocacy Team;
- Supporting the Advocacy Team on weekly tasks;
- Further tasks might be included and decided on the basis of the organisation needs and the candidate’s interests.
Who are we looking for:
- Must be under the age of 35 during their employment with YEE
- The candidate is required to be based in Europe;
- The candidate commits to the values of YEE;
- The candidate will be available for 7 months (from January 2023 to July 2023) for 12 hours per week;
- The candidate can understand, write and conversate fluently in English;
What we offer
- 540 EUR per month with an employment contract with the possibility to prolong;
- Remote work with a possibility of relocation to our HQ in Prague, Czech Republic
