Why does the Arctic matter?

Did you know that the Arctic is warming twice as fast as the rest of the world?  You might have already known that thanks to our online event where we have answered this along many other burning questions!  On the 14th of July, YEE in collaboration with WWF Arctic organised a live Q&A session “Why does the Arctic matter?”, hosted by  YEE External Relations Officer, Nathan Metenier, and YEE Project Manager, Karolina Fabianova.

Our guests were  WWF Arctic representatives, Jan Dusik , the lead sustainable development specialist for the Arctic Programme who coordinates WWF’s work across the Arctic on sustainability issues; andPétur Halldórsson, biologist, one of the founders of the Arctic Youth Network and the Icelandic Representative for WWF’s Arctic Programme. Let´s Clean UP Prague

World Environment Day 2020

What is the most renowned day for environmental action? World Environment Day! 🌷 That´s why together with UNEP Major Group of Children & Youth  and Ukliďme Česko we organised a Prague clean-up on this day as a part of the initiative European Network of Volunteers for the Environment.  Primarily organising a local environmental action in Prague, we also encouraged our member organisations across the Europe to join us in this initiative.  Are you interested in what European volunteers can do? The International Day for Biological Diversity (IDB) takes place every year on May 22. It is the United Nations-sanctioned international day for promoting awareness around biodiversity issues. This year, YEE partnered up with GYBN (Global Youth Biodiversity Network) in order to celebrate and learn in this Biodiversity Week that is happening online on 18-22 May 2020. We took part in the awareness campaign as well as in screening some events like the Q&A  “China & Biodiversity”.  Find out more about the biggest biodiversity camapign here.

Earth Day 2020

We think that Earth is worth celebrating, don’t you? 🌱🌍 This year honoured our planet by making small changes towards living more eco-friendly lifestyle. To be more eco-friendly in everyday life is not something that can be achieved all at once, it is rather about taking these small steps towards conscious improvements in our day to day life.  For this reason, YEE Secretariat and Board challenged the Member Organisations to share some of those small but big changes they are already making. Check out our #YEEarthdaychallenge here
