Yes it’s time to say goodbye to YEE! It might sound like a cliche, but time does fly, and 12 months have gone so fast that I cannot believe that my time as a YEE volunteer is at an end.
I met some great people and made new friends from all over Europe during my stay. I was able to explore the Czech Republic and neighboring countries while I was here, taking advantage of the efficient and affordable Czech transport system, one of the many things I will miss when heading back home to Wales!
I’ve learned so many different things during my time here. I’ve learned how an NGO is run, how to create sessions for training courses, how projects are created from the ground up as an initial idea to implementation. There are too many things to list here, but I guess one of the most bizarre things I learned while volunteering away from the office on the farm was how to milk a goat!!
I was able to build up my skills and confidence during my time here and I feel that I leave having gained valuable knowledge. Experiencing this 12 months has taught me that you never stop learning, there is always knowledge to gain.
YEE aims to unite environmental youth non-profit organisations in Europe in order to enhance international cooperation, increase knowledge about nature, raise awareness of environmental problems and to strengthen participation of youth in environmental decision-making.
