COP29 Delegation
Overview
The Global Dialogues on Climate Justice provides young participants the space to reflect critically on climate justice and their role in shaping a just future. The project is not just about discussing climate issues but focuses on enabling youth to act as informed leaders and advocates in climate decision-making processes.
Youth from eight countries in Europe and the Global South (Armenia, Bangladesh, Nepal, Nigeria, Portugal, Slovenia, Türkiye and Yemen) participate in intercultural exchanges to formulate National Youth Climate Agendas, which are to be presented at UNFCCC COP29. These agendas represent youth perspectives on climate justice, built on the diversity of their experiences and visions for the future.
Who is the project for?
The project is designed for young people who are passionate about making a positive change in the world of climate advocacy.
Objectives
To build capacity among young people coming from different backgrounds (European and non-European) to work together and build an inclusive youth constituency in climate decision making processes and create a shared understanding of climate justice.
To give voice to young people’s real-life experiences of the climate realities in their peers’ countries.
To foster the exchange of knowledge and ideas in the field of youth climate advocacy between youth from countries with widely differing economic, cultural, social and democratic contexts.
To prepare young people to organise and strategise their own climate advocacy on a national and international level in the run-up to UNFCCC COP29.
To deliver concrete advocacy documents and toolkits on how to produce them (e.g. position papers) with clear demands for national and international decision makers.
To establish a sense of global solidarity and put young climate leaders in the position of showing the established powers how to constructively debate pathways for achieving global climate justice.
