Training course: ‘YEE-include: Inclusion in environmental youth projects’

When: 2-9 April 2017

Where: Envicentrum PROUD – Horažďovice, Czech Republic

Project description:

The training course “YEE-include: Inclusion in environmental youth projects” gathered youth workers from European environmental youth organisations who are interested in the topic of inclusion and in organising quality inclusive projects.

The need to organise this project came from the fact that it is important for the network to know how to best use its capacities to also reach young people from fewer opportunities backgrounds. This can be done through work with the nature as a way to promote inclusion. This project helped youth organisations learn how to develop environmental projects that overcome different social, economic, cultural, geographical, educational, physical or mental obstacles that young people might face. We also explored the role of non-formal education as an essential and effective tool in promoting inclusive work in the youth field.

Aims and objectives:

  • To provide youth workers with knowledge and skills in addressing inclusion in order to organise quality environmental projects and activities that ensure equal support, participation and learning

  • To provide theoretical knowledge and practical competences to youth workers on the topic of inclusion;
  • To explore ways that stimulate participation and volunteering in the environmental field;
  • To share experiences and exchange practices in dealing with exclusion of different collectives;
  • To explore appropriate non-formal educational methodology for working with young people with fewer opportunities

Outcomes:inclusion in environmental youth projects

One of the main outcomes from this course was the creation of the Inclusion in Environmental Youth Project booklet, a guide to help youth workers, youth and environmental organisations to understand the topic of inclusion better, but it also suggests some practical ideas for making projects and activities more inclusive.
