On November 17 and 18, 2018 the environmental workshop ‘Take a Green Stand-Armenia!’ was held in Yerevan, Armenia. The workshop was organized by the biggest Armenian youth organization – Federation of Youth Clubs of Armenia (FYCA) and was supported by Youth and Environment Europe (YEE). The workshop was organized in the frame of “Take a Green Stand!” campaign by YEE.
The main aim of the workshop was to raise awareness about climate change among Armenian young people and see how each of us could reduce our impact on climate change.
The participants of the workshop were from all regions of Armenia, which resulted in diverse and fruitful discussions on climate change and climate actions. The discussions were held in several sessions, which covered three main topics:
- Climate Change in general
- Armenia’s Stand in Climate Actions
- Paris Agreement
During the discussions, the participants shared their knowledge on the aforementioned topics, informed their peers about environmental actions implemented in their regions and reported on the awareness level of their communities in environmental issues.
During one of the sessions, the participants enumerated ways of how they could reduce their negative impact on climate change. These included reducing the use of plastic, conserving water at home, using paper cups and bags, using electric cars or bicycles whenever possible and more.
In the last activity, which was about a follow-up project, the participants decided to have a Pan-Armenian tree planting which would cover all the regions and Yerevan. Afterwards, they decided to make a campaign of tree-planting challenge, which would start in Yerevan and be spread in other regions. Another outcome of the project was the decision to visit already planted trees and water them.
