Pegah Maysa Moulana
Advocacy Coordinator
Hi! I am Pegah, from the UK.
Pegah, tell us a bit more about yourself!
I hold my LLM degree in Public International Law from the University of Leiden. My interest in the environment and young people stemmed from my volunteering experience as the UK Young Ambassador to Europe and my study focus on Small Island Developing States. This combination taught me that young people are at the forefront of protecting the environment and what better way to achieve that than being an Advocacy Coordinator at YEE!?
My daily responsibilities entail supporting the Advocacy Working Group volunteers; being the focal point for member organisations towards the advocacy initiatives and organising/strategising YEE’s sub-granting program. I have been part of the YEE team since August 2021 and have had the pleasure of representing this fantastic organisation during COP26 in Glasgow, UK, and MOP7 in Geneva, Switzerland.
What are some of the causes you care about?
Climate change, Biodiversity, Eradication of fossil fuels, refugees [climate], human rights, minority rights.
What do you hope the world will look like in 2050?
A world where young people will not need to worry about protecting their environment (because the previous generation will have saved the environment for current and future generations!).
If you could time-travel, what era would you like to visit and why?
Middle Ages in Asia! Would have loved having no fossil fuels and electricity disconnecting me from the nature.
What are you happiest doing, when you’re not working?
My happiest moments are spared with a good book, especially poetry textbooks. I have been raised in the countryside, so, walking in the nature and taking a moment to slow my life down always makes me happy.
