Last week YEE organised and took part in the ecomapping of its office. Ecomapping is a tool of environmental management which helps individuals and organisations find out about the environmental impact of different elements in a certain space, identify problems and propose practical solutions to solve them.

The ecomapping of the YEE office started with a short introduction of the concept, which was prepared by Mercedes, our Secretary General. Then we divided the six issues to be analysed during the procedure – energy; water; waste; air, odours, noise, dust; risks; storage. We focused on aspects such as energy and heating sources, water sources, storage spaces, products used for regular cleaning or for cooking; the recycling process in the office, etc.

After identifying problems related to each topic, we all discussed possible solutions for each problem, set deadlines and persons in charge for each activity. By organising such an action, we are confident that the YEE office will become even more environmentally-friendly and sustainable.

The ecomapping action was part of the follow-up of the youth exchange "In love with energy efficiency", which took place in Albania from 7 to 15 October 2014 and was organised by YEE and EDEN Center.
