So, it finally happened. I arrived in the beautiful city of Prague, ready to take on a new chapter of my life, enabled by Youth and Environment Europe.

In case you haven't been following, my name is Vladimir, I come from Macedonia and I'm one of the two EVS volunteers this year at YEE. I chose to become a volunteer as a part of the European Voluntary Service as I know that it is a thoroughly established system that equips young people with many new skills and at the same time provides them with a clear vision for their professional future.

There are many things that I would like to tell you about, but for starters, I will share some of my first impressions of the organisation and Toulcuv Dvur. Ever since I've stepped foot inside the ecological centre, or two days ago to be precise, I realized that this is a unique place in Prague that offers a strong sense of being one with the nature. Amid the concrete blocks of buildings, it is a perfect example of an urban juxtaposition.

Hence, I am really looking forward to spending my working days in this environment, since the theme of my volunteering is – environment, pun intended. : )

When it comes to YEE, my first impression so far is quite pleasing and promising. I believe that I'm stepping into an organisation that is fully aware about its strengths and possibilities, an organisation that has an idea how to make the most of its volunteers (and vice versa), and above all, an organisation that strives to make this world a better place for all of us. Therefore, I am strongly convinced that I will utilize this year to give my contribution to the organisation's topic, to see where my strengths are, to relish the moments that this undiscovered future holds. Last but not least, I am confidentially eager to get familiar with the Czech Republic, its people, language and traditions.

Until next time,
Vladimir Jordanov
