Meet our future volunteers!
"Hello, my name is Diana. My home town is Khabarovsk – capital of the Russian Far East and now I am going to have a very long trip to Prague to do my EVS, joining the YEE team. My profession is an economist, but despite of the material way of my job, I was always interested in volunteering, so I took part in some campaigns of waste-collection, and was working with children in camps attached to school. Some month ago I decided that I want to devote more time to volunteering, and I am extremely happy that thanks to YEE I received a chance to make my wish come true. For me volunteers always seemed to be incredible people full of enthusiasm and creativity and I wish I can be the same. I live in a very beautiful place, Far East's nature is very specific, so I just can't help loving it. It is the habitat of Ussury tigers, of which there are only 450; and lotuses, which grow only in a pure water, it is a land of great rivers and mountains. I have always enjoyed to spend time outdoors and long walks, riding bicycle and hiking. Besides I like to meet interesting people from different background and culture. I never cease to be amazed by new and unusual. I am sure I will have an extremely interesting year. Now I can't wait to start my EVS with YEE, for me it is It is about expressing yourself to yourself, it is a challenge and a way to find my own place in this world."
Diana Podgurskaya
"Hey everybody! I´m Aljaž and I come from Slovenia. Coming from the mountainside, nature has always been one of my biggest passions. I tend to spend most of my free time outside - hiking during days and stargazing in the nights. To gain better understanding of environmental processes and human-environment interactions, I decided to study agronomy - altough not having a agricultural background. During my studies I worked in various environmental sectors and also got passionate about volunteering. As I'm always on the hunt for exciting volunteering opportunities, I stumbled upon the EVS page and YEE. A long-term environmental experience abroad has been a wish of mine for a while now. Applying for the YEE project was therefore a logical next step, and luckily, I was given the opportunity to join YEE.
I am already looking forward to share my experiences, gain new skills and meet new people (and the cat), but most of all - to contribute to the wonderful work of YEE!"
