Training for trainers

During Easter 2009, 28 participants from 11 countries came to the town of Kamenice nad Lipou (situated in the south of the Czech Republic) in order to improve not only their facilitating and communication skills but the way of work in their organisations and among the YEE network members as well. In almost 5 days participants had the opportunity to learn more about team roles and teamwork, facilitation, giving and accepting feedback, reflection, presentation and others. They also tackled the topic of intercultural learning and enjoyed for example the "proxemic dance" while learning about the personal space of others. In several working groups participants created (in very limited time) inspiring photo-stories on different topics which you will soon be able to see in the photogallery.

As the TC was held during the Easter, participants also invented and performed some exotic Easter rituals...Many interesting performances were created and we hope that the participants enjoyed the opportunity of practising the teamwork, splitting tasks and cooperating in this way.

YEE hope that participants gained useful knowledge and new skills during the TC an that they will encourage their team mates or colleagues to share a better working atmosphere and support their working teams back home in better communication and cooperation.

T-KITS

The training kits are thematic publications written by experienced youth trainers. They are easy-to-use handbooks for use in training and study sessions. The T-Kits are a product of the Partnership in the field of Youth between the Council of Europe and the European Commission.

• Organisational Management: seeks to encourage the development of well managed youth organisations across Europe through the provision of a theoretical foundation and practical application of organisational management techniques.

• Methodology in Language Learning: essential in the organisation of international events. More and more youth organisations need to be able to provide their members or European volunteers with the necessary skills to communicate in international settings (international events or volunteering in a host country).

• Project Management: this T-Kit is largely inspired from ‘project management' training events run in the context of international youth work and draws on concrete training examples.

• Intercultural Learning: will help you to come to your own conclusions about intercultural learning theory and practice within the context of youth work and training.
  
  
• International Voluntary Service: Ever since the beginning of the movement volunteers have been driven by the wish to contribute positively to today's societies, working towards peaceful and just living conditions through a common effort.
  
  
• Training Essentials: addressed to trainers working within a European framework. It proceeds by assuming that they will be working with a multicultural group and team, in an activity that demands careful planning and input from them, and in training situations which pose a range of personal and professional questions.
  
  
• Under Construction. Citizenship, Youth and Europe: Why do so few young people vote in the European elections? Is there a future to Europe? If the answer is "yes", then today's young people are going to be the ones to shape it.
  
  
• Social Inclusion: How then do youth workers and youth organisations go about being inclusive? This T-Kit aims to provide both conceptual and practical tools and resources from which to begin to explore and approach this question.
  
  
• Funding and Financial Management: in two main parts, one on funding sources and one on financial management. A third part contains a glossary and recommendations for further reading.
  
  
• Educational Evaluation in Youth Work: wants to show that evaluation is exciting and inspiring. It also explains how to make it organised, conscious and how to share it with others.
  
  
• Youth Transforming Conflict: Many youth organisations work actively and focus on dealing with coflicts of different kinds. They often lack resources, relevant information and methods for their daily educational work.

How to get to YEE office?

From the Main Railway Station (Hlavní nádraží), other train station Holešovice

In the hall of the Main Railway Station there is also a metro C line station "Hlavní nádraží". Buy a ticket for 32 CZK and do not forget to validate it. Take the metro to "Muzeum" (one stop, direction Háje). At "Muzeum", change to the A line and go to Skalka (direction Depo Hostivař, pre-last stop). At the top of escalators at Skalka station turn right and go up the stairs. Here you will find the 177 bus stop. Go by 177 bus (direction Chodov) and get off at the 7th stop called "Toulcův Dvůr", which is right in front of the Ecologické Centrum Toulcův Dvůr. Enter through the small wooden gate and go to the office (see below).

If you do not like changing metro lines, take line C from the Main Railway Station to "Opatov" station and take bus number 177 to the stop Toulcův Dvůr (direction "Poliklinika Mazurská") from there. This will take just a little longer time.

From the airport

Take a bus number 119, which stop is right in front of the airport departure hall (both terminals). Take it to the last stop "Nádraží Veleslavín", change to A metro line, go to "Skalka" (direction "Depo Hostivař") an follow the instructions as described above to the bus stop "Toulcův Dvůr".

Basic Prague City Transport ticket costs 32 CZK and is valid for 90 minutes. It can be purchased from ticket machines or ticket selling points. Validate the ticket in the bus or before entering metro station.

From bus stations

There is a metro station near almost any of Prague bus stations. Get into metro, change to line A, go to "Skalka" and take bus number 177 to "Toulcův Dvůr" (see details above).

Toulcův Dvůr

In the picture on the right you can see the building, where YEE Office is situated. The building is in the yard, opposite the gate entrance from the bus stop "Toulcův Dvůr". The office itself is the third window from the left, with the entrance just to the right of that.
