All EVS volunteers are encouraged to develop a personal project during their service. Ideally the project should reflect the needs of the individual and the organisation.

Initially I hoped to use the YEE network to create a campaign arts platform. I am a great advocate of using the arts to inspire change. The entertainment industry especially has potential to spread ideas and promote activism.

This is something I would like to develop in the future, but for now I have chosen to begin a different personal project. After five months in Prague, I have had the opportunity to observe the needs of the network. I have learnt that it is tricky for members to keep track of environmental news stories from other countries, especially when these stories receive minimal coverage from the wider media.

So I have begun a blog to collect environmental news from YEE countries. It is a resource for myself and others. I will include links to relevant petitions, protests and actions.

I hope it will be useful. I think YEE has huge potential. It is a network full of knowledge, skills and people power. If members are better informed, they can support each other. We can support each other's countries.
