There are many ways to be more sustainable and reduce the negative impacts on the Environment.I found out one way which is very good, easy and profitable. It mixes permaculture, upcyling, environmental education, food sovereignty and more. All this with a small activity: to grow your own vegetables at home.

Growing some of your vegetables at home ( window, terrace, yard,...) you reduce your shopping for vegetables from supermarkets, where they are usually grown with industrial techniques. By the time you can eat better ones, more tasty,  full of vitamins and fresh. You also can upcyle different materials reducing the waste disposal.
Not everyone has a big place or the best conditions to grow vegetables at home but there is no reason to hesitate. Everyone could grow the most suitable veggies for their conditions.  For example if you do not have enough sunlight to grow eggplants you might grow still spinach, lettuce or herbs.

To promote it, on Thursday 20th March 2014, is going to take place a workshop in Toulcuv Dvur.
In this workshop the participants will make shelf-irrigating upcyled pots, collect seeds, work in groups and learn a lot about permaculture and food sovereignty.
