City-wide community work day
On 9th of April with the initiative of Yerevan Municipality city-wide community work day and tree planting were organised. Аs a member of Yerevan youth council adjunct to Mayor, "Active young citizens initiative" NGO participated in the event.

"Eco Generation" 2nd phase, opening
On April 22, on the International Earth Day, the official opening of the second phase of "Eco Generation" project took place.
Guest speakers of the opening event were Khachik Hakobyan, the RA Deputy Minister of Nature Protection, Samvel Mertarjyan, the Deputy Secretary of the Yerevan Municipality Staff and Nvard Gevorgyan, the Armenian Tree Project benevolent foundation representative.

Before giving the floor to speakers, a small video film was presented which told about the "Eco Generation" project.

After the film presentation the Deputy Minister Khachik Hakobyan had a speech welcoming this initiative and mentioning that the environmental education is one of the priorities of the Nature Protection Ministry and the fact that non-governmental organisations also prioritize this issue and undertake steps to this objective is greatly appreciated.

Then Nvard Gevorgyan followed with a welcome speech, who congratulated participants on the occasion of the International Earth Day and presented environmental education manuals to the young people. Then Samvel Mertarjyan also welcomed participants, stating: "In recent years the positive changes in the city are definitely evident, changes related both to the increase of green areas and the city cleanliness. The Mayor Taron Margaryan gives much significance to the green areas, and the city tree planting and community work days regularly are organised for this purpose".

Summarizing the official part of the ceremony Mr. Mertarjyan thanked the guests for their appreciation of the project and invoked the project staff to approach the training and the works that will be implemented in schools with greater responsibility. In the second part of the meeting training was held for the project participants. Nvard Gevorgyan spoke with them about the importance of the green areas and the waste. The training was full of video films, examples and different games.

The project is being implemented by "Active Young Citizens Initiative" NGO with the supported of Yerevan youth council adjunct to Mayor. The project will be implemented at 5 schools in Yerevan. During 1 month pupils of 6-7 grade will learn ecology, papier mache, how to reuse plastic and etc.

Meeting with RA Deputy Minister of Nature Protection
On April 28, "Eco Generation" project participants met with the RA Deputy Minister of Nature Protection, Mr. Hakobyan. During the meeting Mr. Hakobyan spoke about the challenges in the area and the steps undertaken to overcome this challenges.
