On May 23, 2016, at National History Museum, Tirana, Albania the official opening ceremony of Environmental Film Festival Albania was held, a joint cooperation between European Delegation in Albania, Ministry of Environment, Ministry of Education, EDEN centre and other local partners and environmental NGOs.

For about two weeks the festival showed 56 environmental films from 29 countries around the world on various topics such as the importance of oceans, fauna, natural resources, the collection of waste etc. Films had been showed in Tirana, Shkodra, Gjirokastra, Vlora, Përmet, Ersekë, Corovode and Valbona. During the festival EDEN center together with its group of volunteers had been part in the organisation and implementation of activities in the framework of EFFA16. Part of the festival was also the NGO fair in which EDEN center and many other organisations presented their work.

The forums give the opportunity to the participants to expand their knowledge on specific environmental issues and have productive discussions about them. Biodiversity, Women and the Environment, Environment and Health, Climate Change Risk Assessment and Agriculture and Environment were the topics of the forums. 

In the end of the two weeks the festival also awarded the best movies. In total of 8 prizes were given to four categories in this festival on 5 June 2016 at ‘Tulla’ cultural center, Tirana, Albania. First and second prize for the best international long movie (>20min), international short movie (<20), EFFA new Talents and EFFA LAB were distributed during the ending ceremony. 

EDEN center is happy also to be part in the next EFFA with a strong belief of the presence of many other new talents and beautiful environmental movies which will help in merging the cinema with the environmental issues. Since 2013 the Environmental Film Festival had served as an important activity and initiative for environmental education within our communities and as an opportunity to film makers to show their creativity in the field of environment.
