Exciting Year for Green Youth Employability!

ECO-UNESCO has had a successful year running our Youth Employment programmes! The Greenpathways II - Environmental Studies and Skills training programme came to a successful end earlier this year, with a graduation ceremony held in Europe House in Dublin. All the young people who took part in the programme over the last 3 years received their FETAC certificates and we got to hear some of the participant’s inspirational journeys of the course of the programme, from where they started out, to their first job and how they moved their careers forward.

Over 140 people have participated in the Greenpathways programme since 2012, completing QQI accredited trainings, mentoring support & guidance, work placements along with employment support. During 2015 over 70 participants commenced the programme and 64% completed the programme and to date 36% of participants progressed onto either employment or further education that can be claimed.

One of the participants who had been unemployed prior to the course has since progressed to full-time paid employment and commented: “Green Pathways and the ECO-UNESCO team did more than help me get a job, they allowed me to start my own pathway to a professional career, and for that I will always be grateful.”

Following on from the success of our GreenPathways Youth Employment programme, ECO-UNESCO will be running a number of new youth employability programmes in 2016-17 in Dublin and Galway to help young people gain new skills and employment. For more information visit ECO-UNESCO's website.
