We have a tradition in YEE, it is the Water Monitoring Day. As many other organizations and people around the world, we organize a trip to a local river or lake. In 2012 approximately 250,000 visits were made by participants to monitoring sites in 66 countries.
This year we were in Křivoklát and Roztoky monitoring the rivers Berounka and Rakovnicky. We chose that place because we could compare the conditions of two rivers with different sizes and ecosystems. We also visited the beautiful castle of Křivoklát.
During 12th October 2013, a young Spanish group did a interpretative route in Horcajuelo de la Sierra, in Sierra del Rincon, Madrid, Spain. This activity was integrated into the YEE campaign "30 years of volunteering for environment" and the participants were invited to pick up rubbish during the route in the forest.
The Right to Be(e) is Youth and Environment Europe's ongoing campaign to support the survival of bees. This winter, YEE will design a collection of creative planting workshops that will be implemented next spring by member organisations across Europe.
We are looking for ideas and inspiration to create fun and educational workshops. The workshops will be local actions to raise awareness and understanding about the importance of bees. We hope to plant lots of bee friendly flowers and teach people about the risks of using pesticides.
If you have an idea for a workshop or activity, write to Jessica at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
You can also post your ideas on the campaign facebook page.
Training course "Youth for Rivers" took part in Armenia on 6-12 October. The project was organised by Balta Daba (Latvia) and Khazer (Armenia) and was focused on the exciting topic of river restoration. 20 participants from different European organisations gathered together to learn more about the basics of river pollution and river restoration and share some examples of river situations in their home countries.
The participants found out that the river restoration can be done in different ways and always has several consequences on the environment which is why it is important to think of all pros and cons before organizing a river restoration project. Examples from various European countries showed us the general river conditions in Europe and gave us some inspiring stories of young people working for the better conditions of their home rivers.
Since 2006, YEE has developed the Sunny Campaign to promote renewable resources across Europe. This year we are focusing on updating the interactive map of environmentally friendly places in Europe.
We would like to add more places to this map. They could be eco shops, vegetarian restaurants, ecocenters and museums, green companies, NGOs and many others! It acts as a Green Database for local people and travellers.
If you would like to add somewhere to the map, please write to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
