Campaigns

In 2016, YEE has joined the People4Soil campaign. This campaign is run by a European network of NGOs, research institutes, farmers, associations and environmental groups. Their aim is to increase the awareness about the topic of soil degradation in Europe. It is preceding the launching of a petition in the end of 2016. This petition will take form as an ECI (European Citizens Initiative) and will have the purpose of collecting one million signatures to purpose a law for soil protection and soil as a common good at the European level. Currently, there are no laws in Europe for the protection of the soil. This petition will be created by the end of 2016 and will stay online for 12 months.

Why is YEE joining this campaign?
We are joining many other big environmental organisations in the campaign (270 organisations) and we are hoping to spread the word among our many member organisations and partners. to our european community and communicate more about this topic.
We also want to explore and promote the topic of soil protection.
Soil is the basis of life and its degradation has consequences on various subjects as the human health, the food security, natural ecosystems, biodiversity and climate change. Because of urbanisation or destructives farming practices, we lose more and more soil everyday.
As this is not the most famous topic in environmental awareness, we would like to share some informations about it to you and think about its protection together.
