Can you introduce yourself?

My name is Narek and I am 25 years old. I have been born in Vanadzor - a city located in the northern part of Armenia. I studied Political Science at Yerevan State University. In 2013, I got the master degree and since October 2013 I run for PhD in Political Science. Besides, I am working at "Insight" analytical centre as a political analyst.

Which YEE member organisation do you belong to? What are the main activities of your organisation?

I have got involved in the Federation of Youth clubs of Armenia (FYCA) in 2013. Since July 2014, I am a Board member in our NGO. FYCA unites more than 100 youth professional and regional clubs, centres and organisations throughout Armenia, thus becoming the largest youth organisation. The mission of our organisation is to raise the role of the youth in the country and in the strengthening of civil society, consolidating youth clubs. FYCA’s activity areas are healthy lifestyle, ecology, sustainable development, development and dissemination of clubs, youth work, democracy, civic participation, human rights, etc.

How did you get involved in YEE? What was your first impression about YEE?

I first got to know about YEE at the training coruse in Aghveran, Armenia in 2013 "Youth for Rivers". The project was organised very well. Moreover, the working style of the trainers and the created atmosphere impressed me.

What is YEE for you?

For me YEE is a unique platform, which promotes cooperation and exchange among various organisations and youngsters from all around Europe. Moreover, YEE is space for idea generation process and, as the experience shows, it is highly effective. YEE provides an opportunity to find people with common values and, most importantly, to act together.

Why did you want to become a member of YEE Board?

I wanted to become a Board member of YEE Board because I would like to have my contribution in the development of this great network. I consider myself experienced and that is why I applied for the position of Treasurer. This position is а responsible one and I will do my best to justify the confidence of my colleagues. Furthermore, it is a personal challenge for me that I am ready to overcome.  

What is your main aim as a 2016 - 2017 Board member?

My main aim is to accomplish all the goals of my work plan for 2016-2017 as a Treasurer. I want to have my contribution in the development and strengthening process of YEE.

Why do you care about the environment? What does the environment mean to you?

First, because I am a part of the environment, nature. As citizens of the world, each of us is responsible for the health of our planet. We should realise that the Earth is a fragile planet with limited resources. The growing threat of climate change means everyone from individuals to businessman must reassess their environment. Only in that case we will keep the biodiversity and to leave it for the further generations.
