The training course "Environmental Watchdog" took place in Pogradec city from April 10th-16th 2012. It was organized by the Environmental Center for Protection, Education and Rehabilitation (EPER Center) under the support of European Commission in the framework of "Youth in Action" Programme.

24 youngsters from Albania, Macedonia, Kosovo, Greece, Italy, Spain and Germany took part in the project. "Environmental Watchdog" was aimed at developing the skills of young people and knowledge of environmental and social issues. Solidarity, European citizenship and tolerance were the characteristics that accompanied the whole activity. Trainers helped young people in capacity building through informal education.

An important part of this training course was the visit to the Municipality of Pogradec, where young people met with the Vice Head of the Municipality Mr. Erion Vesho, municipal officers, representatives of local organizations and locals. At this meeting, the young people were introduced to best practices and environmental issues that accompany Pogradec. At the end of the meeting, youngsters visited all municipal departments and implemented an environmental monitoring statement addressed to the local people of Pogradec.

 Youngsters visited local organizations recognizing the work of a volunteer group, discussing the situation of youth in Pogradec, the scale of their involvement in the problems of the city, as well as promoting the program "Youth in Action" by increasing cooperation among them in the future.

Also training course was followed by meetings with the community of Pogradec, natural guide to protected areas of Pogradec, environments as well as intercultural evening held in Korca city close to Pogradec.

EPER Center is expected to carry out other activities in framework of "Youth in Action" program in other cities of Albania, aiming at increasing of participation and cooperation of local policies for youth, as well as encouraging young people in local decision-making regarding environmental issues.
