'Reclaim Power' Tour & Camps |
This summer three big international events will take place in Germany to defend the environment and reclaim alternative energy and agricultural policies:
Where: from Stuttgart / Lausitz to Climate Camp
Where: Rheinland - Germany A place for anyone who wants to take action on climate change; for anyone who's fed up with empty government rhetoric and corporate spin; for anyone who's worried that the small steps they're taking aren't enough to match the scale of the problem; and for anyone who's worried about our future and wants to do something about it.
Where: Rheinland-Germany A constellation of young people and collective projects willing to go back to the land and reassume the control over food production. A real energy transformation means an immediate phase-out of coal, petrol and nuclear power. Green capitalism will not help us to limit the catastrophic impacts of climate change. There are alternatives to large corporations and these events will promote them, sharing knowledge and ideas, to create a collective future. The energy giant RWE is the second biggest German energy supplier, it uses coal as the main energy and has very low share of regenerative energies. RWE is being criticized for greenwashing with "climate campaigns". RWE has the biggest coal open cast mining in Europe, which produces around 10% of Germany's CO2 emissions. A lot of nature and towns are being destroyed, and low the groundwater level is being contanimated. This is why the Climate camp and Reclaim the Fields will take place in Rheineland near Cologne: as a symbol of environment issues. Two bike tours will visit, connect and strengthen different energy struggles from the East and the South of Germany and both will end at the Climate Camp in Rhineland (23/08 – 01/09 2013). After this there will be a Reclaim the Fields Camp (28/08 – 06/09 -2013) and four days of actions (28/08 – 02/09/2013). The Tour, Reclaim the Fields and Climate Camp are open and public spaces to all people from different countries and political contexts to come together in order to learn from each other and build up a movement to stop climate change. It is based on four basic elements: Education; Actions; Living alternatives; Movement and networking. |
