Yeghvard Youth and Ecological NGO was established on 17 November 2009. It is a non-profit, grassroots organization completely managed by local youth members in Yeghvard, a city located within te Kotayk region of Republic of Armenia.

Aims:

Yeghvard NGO was created in order to address the needs of Armenia youth by providing them with an opportunity to gather together and share information about the current social, ecological and economical issues in Armenia. With a particular focus on promoting environmental awareness and appreciation, Yeghvard NGO is committed to spreading ideas and information through youth people, with the hope that youth can be empowered to take action locally and improve thier communities.

What they do:

• After-school English, Spanish and Russian clubs (over 20 students attends each of these clubs).
• Youth-led ecological and cultural projects and a variety of social events for youth such as: concerts, intellectual games, tree plantings, nature excursions, inter-cultural exchanges, social activities, group games.
• Hand made groups of the NGO and the art school at Yeghvard city, where youth get creative with different materials such as wood, plastic and paper.
• Free informational seminars, environmental lessons in Yeghvard's primary and secondary schools.

The organization has a movie club and are making films about every project and event of the NGO. The project of 'School on application of energy and resources'. Through SPARE, pupils learn how to use energy and resources efficiently.

By planning and implementing youth programs that are both interesting and meaningful, Yeghvard Youth and Ecological NGO envisions a brighter future for Armenia, in which young people will lead the way towards ensuring environmental sustainability, promoting the spread of free information, and taking the initiative to help others and enhance their communities through responsible actions. Our organization is realizing youth–environmental events, actions and lessons in schools of the Kotayk region.
