YEE Board and Secretariat, after 4 months, met again for another board meeting, this time in Kapraluv Mlyn eco-centre, near Brno (Czech Republic).

We used these 3 days to reflect on the hard work that has been done until now, and planned the next steps before the Annual Meeting. We also discussed organisational details related to YEE everyday work, and talked about YEE’s strategic plan and potential visions for the future.

Do you follow the work of YEE but did not become our member yet? Take this chance and join our network of environmental youth organisations from 25 countries. Every year representatives of YEE meet for the Annual Meeting and decide on what the network will work on in the upcoming year. This year the Annual Meeting will take place on 15-17 July in the Czech Republic. One of the things we will work on will be the acceptance of new members to your environmental family.

If your organisation works with young people and focuses on the topic of environment - join us! Get to know many youth organisations and people around Europe with similar interests, exchange information and ideas on common topics, take part in high-quality training courses, find reliable partners... these are just few of the many advantages that you can enjoy when being a member of YEE.

YEE is happy to share the news from the first activity of our long-term project “Active youth-better environment!” - the training course “Youth exploring participation”. The training course was organised on 17-23 March 2018 in ecological center Kapraluv Mlyn in the Czech Republic.

From the very beginning we dived deep into exploring the topic of youth participation - our group of participants was very motivated and enthusiastic to learn as much as possible. During the training course we explored the definitions of active citizenship, public and youth participation. We discussed traditional and innovative forms of participation, learned to make community mapping and also used group’s wisdom to discuss challenges that stop young people from participating. We also learned more about the importance of inclusion in youth projects and some practical tips on how to organise direct actions.

After six years of involvement in YEE, it is time for me to say goodbye.

It certainly has been an adventure! Working in a big network like YEE, with young people coming from so many different cultures and backgrounds and in an ever-changing environment is a challenge. But the rewards and gratifications made it definitely worth it! During my time in YEE I have met and worked with many people. I have learnt and been inspired by every one of you and even in difficult times, I could always feel that we were all driven by the same purpose and passion: the love for nature and the urge to protect it.

YEE is a great place to grow both as a person and as a professional. I am very grateful that I was offered the chance to be part of it, benefit from the network and give my contribution back to it. Now it is time to leave space for new and fresh ideas to come to YEE!
