The office of Youth and Environment Europe is happy to open the call for new EVS volunteers.

We are searching for 2 people for the EVS project which will start on 1 September 2017 and last 12 months (until 31 August 2018). It will take place in Prague, Czech Republic.

We dedicate this newsletter to YEE 2016 Annual Meeting, which took place in the Czech Republic at the end of August. Check out our article and picture gallery for highlights. In this issue you can read more about our new Executive Board and member organisations. Have a peek at documents which will enable YEE to keep up the good work in the future. Let’s start this article with a well-known song from Michael Jackson “Man In The Mirror”. It doesn’t matter in which country, region or city you live, as we are all affected by one of the most recently discussed topics related with the environment that we live in, our health, economy... Climate Change is part of our daily life and we are part of it.

In 2015 YEE started the Climate Campaign. In 2016, in cooperation with EDEN Center, YEE has brought the campaign back. Under the new motto “Change Climate Change”, the campaign aims to encourage youth NGOs, local groups and individuals to bring up their contribution to the global social movement for stronger action in response to climate change.

Every year, 4 October marks World Animal Day. This celebration began in 1925 and proposal to make this day universal was accepted in 1931. The idea about World Animal Day belonged to Heinrich Zimmermann, who organised the first event on 24 March in 1925 in Berlin.

Mission of the celebration is “to raise status of animals in order to improve welfare standards”. To bring the idea into life, organisers try to encourage animal welfare organisations, community groups, youth and children's clubs, business and individuals to arrange events in celebration of the day.

Office Cuisine is a YEE Secretariat initiative which promotes a sustainable lifestyle and eating habits among young people. We aim to raise awareness on environmental, health and food issues by publishing articles on these topics. At the same time we try to be a source of ideas with recipes from our office and seasonal recipe competitions.

We entered the last quarter of the year. Following the course of seasons it is time to open the Autumn vegetarian recipe competition!
