I had the chance to finish my internship at YEE with one week of training course, followed by the Annual Meeting. I was surrounded by so many great people that it was even harder than I thought for me to leave.

I can now think about these almost 4 months in YEE as a wonderful opportunity that I was lucky to take. I was feeling at home in the team and in Prague in general. The office team always made me take part in everything they could and I really felt integrated and valuable. This was a really good first experience for me and I now feel part of the big YEE family!

September is approaching and the end of summer also. This is quite a busy time for YEE as we have the training course "Be(e) the Change" and the Annual Meeting approaching. Still, a lot of things happened during the hot months! You can check in our new issue activities driven by our members, progress of projects, how to prepare for the Annual Meeting and also environmental news. Time for a bit of reading!

On 15-17 August the first meeting of the project "Environmental challenge accepted" took place in Tartu, Estonia. This project is coordinated by our Latvian member BALTA DABA. This is a strategic partnership project which is supported by the Erasmus+ programme and will last 1.5 years. During this project several partners will work on solving local environmental problems with young people. You can read more about the project here.

The first meeting of the team was organised and hosted by one of the partners of the project – Estonian Fund for Nature. 2 representatives from each partner organisation met for the first time to discuss the project, plan next steps, agree on practical arrangements and get to know each other better.

This year's 8th of August marks the Earth Overshoot Day, also known as the Ecological Debt Day. On this day we have used up all the resources that Earth produces in one year. We will so be living on a credit until the end of the year, creating an ecological debt. This debt translates into consumption of natural resource stocks, waste accumulation and environmental degradation. Our current consumption demands natural resources of 1.6 earths.

Humanity first went into debt on the 23rd of December in 1970. The earth overshoot day has been moving closer to January ever since. In 2006 the New Economics Foundation and the Global Footprint Network launched the Earth Overshoot Day initiative to raise awareness on this issue. The World Wildlife Fund has joined the campaign in 2007.

Thursday 28th of August marked the end of the Office Cuisine vegetarian summer recipe competition. Refreshing recipes from Italy, Georgia and France competed for the official Office Cuisine apron. As before, we invited the public to help us pick the best recipe.

We are happy to announce the winning summer recipe, Tamar Lomsadze's Vegan Eggplant Noodles from Georgia. The second place goes to Elise Blandin's Papaya Chili Salad (France), closely followed by Maria Laura Calia's Summer Lasagna Rolls (Italy). We congratulate all competitors and thank everybody who placed their vote. These recipes could freshen-up your summer, so make sure to try them out!
