Open Call for Advocacy Officers!

,

Youth and Environment Europe’s Advocacy Working Group (AWG) is looking for two motivated, passionate volunteers to join the team! We are currently opening two positions – a Biodiversity Liaison Officer and an Advocacy Support Officer. Are you the perfect match?

The Advocacy Working Group is an essential team of YEE working towards stronger and closer communication with decision-makers and more visible participation of young people in environmental governance processes. If you are passionate about environmental questions and want to advocate on behalf of young Europeans, come join the team!

We are currently looking for:

Advocacy Support Officer

The volunteering position of Support Officer would require 7-10 hours a week, from present to the start of August (a minimum engagement of 6 months but there is the possibility to extend).

The main responsibilities of the Support Officer would be to provide support to the Advocacy Working Group (AWG) and support the work of the current Liaison Officers. This would entail providing help in a range of advocacy strategies across different themes (climate change, biodiversity, environmental governance etc…). Concretely, this could look like organising webinars, helping draft and review concept notes and project proposals, facilitating meetings between stakeholders and helping out Liaison Officers if they cannot attend a certain meeting or need research on a certain topic. The overall aim of the AWG is to bridge the gap with policy-makers on environmental and climate European and international decision-making processes; as well as ensuring that young Europeans are present in climate and environmental decision making processes both at the UN level and the European level. By becoming the General Support Officer to the AWG, you would be right in the heart of this project!

Biodiversity Liaison Officer

The volunteering position of Biodiversity Liaison Officer would require 7-10 hours a week from present to the start of August.

The role of the Biodiversity Liaison Officer is to help create a stronger basis of Biodiversity knowledge with YEE and to implement and carry out relevant advocacy campaigns and relations on the topic. The portfolio of the Biodiversity Liaison Officer would extend to things such as liaising with GYBN Europe, EEB Biodiversity WG, greater implication in IUCN membership, BAE liaison and more. There are certain areas that are of particular interest such as the CBD, nature-based solutions, conservation and more. This is a position with a lot of potential – with exciting projects on Pollinators on the horizon, and more broadly, potential to work on topics such as earth jurisdiction (e.g the rights of rivers). This is a small insight into the breadth of themes that a Biodiversity Liaison Officer could take on. Overall, this is a very exciting position that would allow you to deepen the theme of biodiversity within a wider advocacy strategy and ensure a youth voice in the European biodiversity world.

Join the largest independent European network of youth environmental organisations, work together with forefront climate activists and explore the new opportunities that YEE would bring to you! Find out more about our advocacy work here.

If you have the potential to fulfill the role, apply by March 15th 2021 / Midnight CET viathis application form.We are looking forward to receiving your application! If you have any questions, don´t hesitate and contact us at yee@yeenet.eu
