In September 2020, both Armenia and Azerbaijan reported a serious incident involving violence and the use of heavy weapons. It has led to the loss of many lives. The clashes between Armenia and Azerbaijan in the Nagorno – Karabakh region which started on 27th September continues.
Both sides have claims on the region which leads to massive violations of human rights, hatred, bloodshed, and suffering. YEE as an active network of youth organisations with representatives from all over Europe, and a Board Members coming from both Armenia and Azerbaijan, is extremely concerned about the situation. YEE stands for the protection of human rights as well as the prevention of environmental disaster that may be caused because of the ongoing military activities. We hope that the peaceful resolution will be settled and it is up to Armenia and Azerbaijan to make the strategic decision to deal with one another and follow a plan that involves concessions and leads to long-term peace.
YEE aims to unite environmental youth non-profit organisations in Europe in order to enhance international cooperation, increase knowledge about the climate crisis, raise awareness of environmental problems and to strengthen participation of youth in environmental decision-making.
