Cities are a breeding ground for change: environmental policies, youth engagement, system change – all these things have the potential to be deeply influenced by cities. By implementing projects and creating spaces for young people to propose innovative environmental policies, cities can deeply contribute to the shaping of society. Keeping in mind the relevance of cities in Europe, Youth and Environment Europe is now working with green cities to contribute towards their move for change and youth engagement.

Learn, debate and brainstorm in a 2-day workshop

We are launching the workshop “Cities, Climate and Change” – an event by Youth and Environment Europe in cooperation with Lahti, the winner of the European Green City Award 2021. For this event, we will offer a 2-days online workshop in which young Europeans (16 to 29 years-old from an EU country) can learn, debate and brainstorm ideas on how to turn their dreams for greener cities into a reality. With the help of moderators, speakers and of course each other, they will present by the end ideas on how to better their local environment and how to ask for action by their local governments.

While being presented and challenged with advocacy tools, participants will also be asked to sign up to a breakout room according to their preferred interest.

Do you want to work closely on:

  • Transport?
  • Reduce/ Reuse/ Recycle?
  • Education?

In these breakout rooms you will be asked to propose solutions, come up with projects and pitch your ideas on how to better your local environment with your group. It will help you solidify your plan, receive constructive feedback and build a network of like-minded people.

Together we will try and answer questions such as:

  • What do you and what does your community need the most?
  • How can we approach our local leaders to create change?
  • What is the role of city-based advocacy in wider national and European policies?

Does this seem like something you would be interested in? Sign up!
