Overview

The “Energy Literacy for Youth (ELY)” project is a capacity-building initiative funded by ERASMUS+. It aims to empower young people, particularly those from marginalised groups, to become active citizens in addressing climate change and promoting renewable energy solutions. The project focuses on the development, testing, and refinement of an adaptable and replicable curriculum on energy literacy, tailored to diverse local socio-cultural contexts.

ELY is implemented across five countries—Poland, Czechia, Cyprus, Denmark, and Germany—and will culminate in a final conference in Brussels to share best practices, outcomes, and strategies for broader adoption of the curriculum.

Who is the project for?

The “Energy Literacy for Youth (ELY)” project primarily targets:

  • Youth: Marginalised young people from diverse socio-cultural contexts, interested in energy literacy.
  • Youth Organisations: Organisations working with youth that seek to enhance their capacity to address climate change and promote renewable energy solutions.
  • Policy and Decision-Makers: Stakeholders who can support and advocate for the adoption of the energy literacy curriculum and promote youth-driven climate action.

Objectives

Design a comprehensive and adaptable curriculum to enhance knowledge and skills in energy literacy among youth, with a particular focus on renewable energy and climate action.

Identify and prioritise marginalised youth groups in each country and ensure their active involvement in shaping the curriculum and its implementation.

Conduct local training sessions in participating countries to test the curriculum, gather feedback, and refine it for maximum replicability and cultural adaptability.

Strengthen the capacity of youth organisations to implement energy literacy initiatives and promote sustainable practices within their communities.

Promote the project’s results through local and international dissemination efforts, culminating in a final conference in Brussels to advocate for the adoption of the curriculum and highlight the importance of youth engagement in climate action.
