Overview
The Y-RESCUE project aims to empower youth across Europe to create scalable solutions to urban climate challenges and build urban climate resilience through youth-driven actions.
The project identifies commonalities and differences in how different urban communities across different countries are affected by climate challenges, with particular focus on the most economically vulnerable communities.
By bringing together students and recent graduates from diverse academic disciplines and countries, the project creates an inclusive framework allowing youth from different countries to collaborate in the co-creation of actionable solutions addressing climate resilience challenges.
Through resources and training activities and direct support to the implementation of local urban resilience projects, Y-RESCUE provides young community leaders with practical skills through hands-on experience, bridging gaps between theoretical knowledge and real-world application.
Who is the project for?
Y-RESCUE is designed for young people aged 18–30, particularly students and recent graduates, who are concerned about climate change and want to actively contribute to climate resilience solutions in urban contexts.
It targets young people from diverse academic and social backgrounds, including those connected to youth organisations, informal youth groups, and emerging youth leaders, with particular attention to participants engaged in or affected by climate challenges in economically vulnerable urban communities across Europe.
Objectives
Empower 300 young people aged 18 to 30 to co-create local resilience projects and strengthen climate resilience in urban environments.
Build participants’ capacities through training in climate resilience, project management, leadership, and advocacy.
